It originated in the natural underground salt caves and mines found in Eastern Europe in the latter half of the 19^th century, but came to prominence after WWII in the 1950’s.

Historically, you had to travel to one of these underground locations to enjoy the many health benefits of salt therapy, however around 30 years ago, modern technology became available which was able to replicate the therapeutic environment found in these underground caves. Modern Salt Therapy was created and why the room is often referred to as a “Salt Cave.”

Extremely popular in Eastern Europe, with many clinics in all major cities, Salt Therapy is rapidly spreading all over the world, arriving in Australia as recently as 3 years ago.

How is the Therapy Delivered?

A special device called a halo-generator grinds up salt into a microscopic powder and fans it into the room gradually over the course of a 1 hour session. The particles are small enough to be able to reach every part of your respiratory system thus benefiting a wide variety of conditions. Salt Therapy uses a dry sodium chloride aerosol which enables the particles to be smaller for delivery than any nebulised form of saline solution. By removing the complication of water, salt therapy can deliver salt to our airways in a comfortable, relaxing environment.

During each hour long session the room is sealed from any outside pollutants as the halo-generator grinds pharmaceutical grade salt into microscopic particles and fans it into the room. A laser sensor in the room monitors the salt concentration in the air and provides instant feedback to the medical device, ensuring that the air you breathe is always perfectly balanced for optimum therapeutic benefit.
